La lune
La Lune is the twin sister of Etoille. These sweet twin babies came from a far distance, near the Central African border. It took them days to arrive as these newborns were transported by bicycle. They began their lives by staying at the Chief’s house here in Gemena, but the Chief could not feed or care for them so he came to Mama Sabuli to beg her to care for them at the Children’s Center. At this time the children were already two months old and severely malnurished. Originally, their auntie had been breastfeeding them but because of the cultural stigma toward orphans, she couldn’t continue to care for them. In addition, she had her own small children to care for. Orphans in Congo are often outcasts.
These beautiful twins, La Lune and Etoille, are now healthy and developing their own unique personalities.
